系统工程

系统工程 is an interdisciplinary approach and means to enable the realization of successful systems. 的 系统工程.S. program educates engineers to serve as the primary interface between management, 客户, 供应商, and specialty engineers in the systems development process.  Note that where other engineering disciplines concentrate on the specifics of a system (electronics, 力学, 工效学, 空气动力学, 软件, 等.), Systems Engineers focus on the integration of all of these aspects as a coherent and effective system.

Systems Engineers bring a particular perspective to the engineering process (such as requirements definition, top-level functional designs, 项目管理, life cycle cost analysis, product lifecycle management) that serves to organize and coordinate other engineering activities.

的 program is open to engineers with a degree in any field of engineering (Mechanical, 电, 电脑, 等.) - no make-up courses are required.  Many engineers working full-time enroll in the 系统工程.S. program on a part-time basis since all courses are offered in the evening, and some courses are also available online.  Students may enter the program at any time of the year and begin their classes in either September, January or May due to the flexible nature of the course requirements.

Students are provided with a varied selection of courses in four key areas:

  • 必修课程:  Students are required to select the following course:
    • Foundations of 系统工程
  •  and any 2 of the following courses:
    • Advanced 系统工程
    • Engineering Project Management
    • Product Lifecycle Management
    • Engineering Decision Analysis
  • Systems Elective Courses:  select 8 credits from over 20 系统工程 courses and over 30 Industrial and 系统工程 courses.
  • General Elective Courses:  select 8 credits from over 150 courses offered in 系统工程, Industrial and 系统工程, 机械工程, 电 and 计算机工程, or 计算机科学 and Informatics.
  • 理论课程:  select 1 course from a list of 6 including Statistical Methods in Engineering, Engineering Operations 研究, and Systems Optimization and Design.
